Matej’s first film - a feature documentary - recently premiered & received Honorable Mention at the 37th New Jersey International Film Festival. It also received the Independent Vision Award, Documentary Film, at the VisionFest Festival, and is nominated for Best Documentary at the Festival of Cinema NYC 2019, and is Official Selection at Ethnografilm Festival, Paris 2019; Swindon Independent Film Festival 2019, UK and Lift-Off Global Network Documentary Film Showcase. The film, Baba Babee Skazala [Grandmother Told Grandmother] tells the little-known story of Ukrainian children torn from their homes in the crush between the Nazi and Soviet fronts in World War II. Spending their childhood as refugees in Europe, these inspiring individuals later immigrated to the United States, creating new homes and communities through their grit, faith and deep belief in the importance of preserving culture.

If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.
